Professional Plan: Held and Throttled by Zapier

Hey, guys! We have a paid account in Zapier - Professional Plan. Recently we’ve been getting a lot of “held-throttled” history. We’re not sure what happened as I searched and found that “Throttling” only works in free accounts - not in Paid accounts.

Our zap is somewhat straightforward. We will send a message to our clients a day before and 30 minutes before a calendar event starts. This has approximately 15 copies as we have around 15 people dealing with different set of clients.

Please let us know how to fix this issue. These zaps are essential so reducing/deleting any of these is not an option. Thank you so much!

The throttling happens when it uses the Email by Zapier.

Hi @James Darrel

Might be best to open a ticket with Zapier Support for further troubleshooting and guidance: https://zapier.com/app/get-help

Hey @James Darrel,

The Email by Zapier app itself is limited to a maximum number of sends per hour, which is separate from the Zapier Throttling. On the Free plan it’s 5 emails (per Zapier account) per hour and on paid plans its 10 emails (per Zapier account) per hour.

So if you’re attempting to send 15 emails in an hour that may be what’s causing those Zap runs being held. In which case, it may be better to switch to another email app like Gmail, Mandrill, Mailgun etc. to send out the email notifications. You can view a full list of the email apps we support here: https://zapier.com/apps/categories/email

Hopefully that helps! :)

@James Darrel

If doing lots of volume, then I suggest Mailgun: https://zapier.com/apps/mailgun/integrations
