I have a zap created which sends a message to slack as a notification when a custom field is updated in Asana.

The issue is that it sends the notification if any of the custom fields are updated. I want it to trigger only if a certain custom field is updated. I.E ‘Priority’

If priority is updated to ‘High’ the notification is sent.

It seems that custom fields are grouped in Zapier. Is there a way to bypass this?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Ethan Proenca

Perhaps explore using native Asana Rules for automations: https://help.asana.com/s/article/rules?language=en_US

For us to have more info about the Zap, post screenshots showing how your Zap steps are outlined and configured in EDIT mode with the field mappings visible.

Hi there, @Ethan Proenca 👋

Just checking in to see how things went with this—did you have any success in using Asana’s native rules as Troy suggested?

If not, it looks like the recommended approach for the Updated Task trigger is to use a Filter, or Paths, to check which field was updated to ensure the Zap only continues for updates in a specific custom field:

Here’s an example of the type of filter that references the Change Field to check whether a change was made to specific custom fields:

Please do keep us updated on how things are going on this, want to make sure you’re all set! 🙂
