I needed to run a “find” function on an app that would return an error if nothing exists. I used this clever strategy to complete the “find” using a test variable in Story by Zapier:

However, my Zap will always have at least one error when it runs, so it will always turn off! I need my zap to stay on, even after it experiences an error. Is this possible?

If not, is there a way to get around this?

Cheers,

Tristan

The zap has the error because one of the steps after your “Find” step requires a data field from it, and doesn’t get it.

Try adding a filter after the find step.

The left dropdown should be the “ID” field from the “Find step” and the criteria should be “Exists”

That way if nothing is found in your Find step, then the zap will stop that run, but not error and switch off.

Thanks Andrew. I found the following to fix the issue I had:
