Hello.

I configured Assembly AI to transcribe a YouTube video and to give me a summary of the transcript.

However at the test, it ‘transcribed’ something completely unrelated to the video. I found the transcript that it showed me in a newspaper article from Canada. I double-check everything in my Zap and I went through with the AI chat in Zapier agent builder which suggested to have found the problem: “AssemblyAI can't directly process YouTube URLs. It needs the actual audio file URL and to:

  1. First extract the audio from the YouTube video, then
  2. Send that audio file to AssemblyAI for transcription,

or, alternatively use Descript or Speak AI instead…?

Hi @Kat1018,

Welcome to the Community.

AssemblyAI requires a direct audio file URL and can't process YouTube links. To work around this, extract the audio using tools like Y2Mate or Online Video Converter, then upload the file to Dropbox or Google Drive and use its URL in AssemblyAI. Alternatively, services like Descript or Speak AI can process YouTube URLs directly.
