I am using the trigger for “When a task is competed” in OnFleet. My tasks utilize custom fields. It seems that I can only use fields for sample data in Zapier which does not include the custom fields. I have read in another blog post that I need to map out the fields, but I am unsure what the correct map would be.

For example, this is what the field “recipient name” maps out as when copied from the sample output - {{287591443__data__task__recipients_]name}}

I have tried many different variations to map similarly for my custom fields, but have not found the right one. I was hoping others have run into this before with custom fields integrating Zapier and OnFleet.

Hi @swesolowski.paragusit,

Welcome to the Community.

When using the "When a task is completed" trigger in OnFleet, Zapier may not always show all fields, including custom ones, but they are still retrievable. The provided mapping format is correct, but you must replace 'recipientse]name' with your specific custom field name, ensuring it matches precisely as it appears in OnFleet. If issues persist, contacting OnFleet support can help confirm the correct field names for your Zaps.

I hope this helps. If you have any further questions or need more assistance, please don't hesitate to ask.

Hi there, @swesolowski.paragusit! 👋

I just came across this and wanted to check how you got on with this—did Jammer’s reply help to get you pointed in the right direction?

If you’re still stuck, I’d suggest selecting a Zap run as a test record (sample) instead of using custom pill mapping to select the missing fields.

To do that you would:

  1. Publish the Zap and do a live test by completing a task in OnFleet to trigger it.
  2. Next, edit the Zap and select the latest Zap run as a new test record. See our Modify test records in Zaps guide for details.
  3. That should then allow you to select the previously missing fields in the Zap.

If you give that a try and run into any trouble or would like some further help using the custom pill mapping approach, just let me know. Want to make sure you’re all set! 🙂

I’ve still been unable to accurately map the fields I need, however selecting the Zap run as the sample record worked.  It does merge the values of all custom fields as one pill, separating with comas, which is annoying but no the end of the world as long as I have the values. Thanks!

Hi @swesolowski.paragusit,

If you're having trouble mapping and merging custom fields in Zapier, ensure the connected app supports custom fields and is correctly configured. If fields aren't showing, re-test the step pulling them. When merging multiple custom fields into one comma-separated value, use Zapier's 'Formatter' tool with the 'Split Text' action to separate them. This helps manage and use custom field data more effectively.

I hope these suggestions help. If you're still having trouble, please provide more details about the apps you're using and the specific steps in your Zap where you're facing issues. We're here to help you make the most out of Zapier!
