I am trying to get an email alert everytime a file is added or changed in a Google Drive folder. I set it up where I get the person and flie name but I also want to know what subfolder it went into (the parent folder). All I am seeing is the parent folder ID. Is there a way to take the Parent ID and get the name?

Hi @MrcEsq

Try this Zap action: GDrive - Retrieve File or Folder by ID

So then how can I get the Name of the parent folder? I want to get the name of the parent folder sent to me in the email (as well as the file, owner, and a link).

Thank you!

@MrcEsq

You said: All I am seeing is the parent folder ID. Is there a way to take the Parent ID and get the name?

If you use the Zap action “GDrive - Retrieve File or Folder by ID” to search for a Folder using the Parent ID you indicated you can map, then it will return data about the found (parent) Folder including the (parent) Folder Name.

Hi @MrcEsq 👋 Were you able to give the approach Troy suggested a try yet?

Keep us posted on whether it retrieves the parent folder name, want to make sure you’re all set. 🙂

Yes! It worked! Thank you. I had tried this and it wasnt working but today its working like a charm.

Thank you!

Yay! 🎉 That’s great news @MrcEsq. I’m so glad Troy’s suggestion worked - thanks for helping here @Troy Tessalone🙌
