Question

How to fill the product property when creating a contact in HubSpot?

Hello,

I am adding a lead to HubSpot when he’s set as interested in Instantly. I am trying to add the product property which I created in hubspot in this case Voicebot for this campaign in Instantly. How do I set the product field to be filled with “Voicebot”.  In this case it’s looks like I am just retrieving Voicebot and Product, which I am not sure what that means since I am trying to create a new contact.

I don’t have Contact Information: Product here where I can assign a value:

Hi @TheAki,

Welcome to the Community.

To set a custom "Product" property for new HubSpot contacts using Zapier, first create the custom field in HubSpot. Then, set up a Zap with HubSpot as the action app and "Create or Update Contact" as the event. If needed, map the "Product" field to "Voicebot" and refresh the fields. Finally, test the Zap to confirm the property updates correctly.

I hope this helps. Please don't hesitate to ask if you need further assistance.

I already created the custom field in hubspot and chose Create Contact as the event. My question is how do I map that field “Product” as Voicebot? I can only retrieve, but there is no option to set it as Voicebot as you can see in the pictures.

Hi @TheAki,

To set a custom field in HubSpot to "Voicebot" when creating a new contact via Zapier, set up a Zap with your desired trigger and choose HubSpot's "Create Contact" action. When mapping fields, manually enter "Voicebot" in the custom field. If the field is a drop down or multiple choice, ensure "Voicebot" is available in HubSpot. If you encounter issues, check the field type or provide more details for further assistance.

I created a field called Product in HubSpot and I want for the zap mentioned that every lead interested from Instantly to have that field as “Voicebot”. How do I in zapier set the field Product to “Voicebot” in the zap? I can only set the predefined fields a value.

Hi @TheAki,

To be able to set a custom field like "Product" to a specific value (for example, "Voicebot") in HubSpot using Zapier, ensure the custom field is created in HubSpot and is compatible with values like "Voicebot." Set up an action in Zapier to update the lead/contact in HubSpot and map the custom field. If the field is a dropdown or text, input "Voicebot" directly. Ensure "Voicebot" is a valid dropdown option. Enter it for text fields. Test the Zap with a sample lead to ensure the field updates correctly. If the custom field isn't appearing, check your HubSpot connection or reconnect it in Zapier.

Let us know if you need further assistance.

So when I create it in the zap I have to update it after as another step? Can I not directly create it with the Product field?

Hi @TheAki,

In Zapier, you can't create custom fields in HubSpot directly; they must be pre-created in HubSpot first. Once the "Product" custom field (for example, for "Voicebot") is set up in HubSpot, you can map it in your Zap to update or create a contact. Select "Voicebot" from the options if it's a dropdown field, or enter it directly for a text field. After setting up the Zap, test it to ensure the field updates correctly. There's no need for an extra step to update the field unless modifying an existing record after creation.

I hope that clears things up. Let me know if you need further clarification or have any other questions.
