Question

How to automate short video creation from static images?

So, the plan is that a new image gets added.
A short video gets generated.
The video goes out for posting.

Right now, I handle too many steps by hand.
I edit. I export. I upload. I repeat.

I want Zapier to handle most of this.
Trigger the process. Send the image. Wait for the video. Push it to the next step.

Has anyone built something like this?
Did you generate the video inside the Zap, or did you call an external service and poll for the result?

I’m testing different approaches and want to avoid brittle workflows.

Hello  @aelawson  This is a common pattern.

Most folks don’t generate the video inside Zapier. Zapier works best as the orchestrator. The usual approach is to send the image to an external video service, then wait for the result.

Typical flow
Trigger on new image
Send image to video service via Webhooks by Zapier or a native app
Store the job ID
Use Delay by Zapier or Schedule by Zapier to poll until the video is ready
Post the finished video

Polling or webhook callbacks are more reliable than fixed delays and help avoid brittle Zaps.

This clears things up. I was trying to push video creation inside Zapier.
That explains why it felt clumsy.

Using Zapier as the middleman makes more sense, especially to send out, and get the result back.

Polling sounds safer than hard delays.
Less breakage.

Thanks for sharing this.
