How do we determine the last message sent on the Slack channel?

Hi! Can I ask if there is a way to determine that a certain message is the last message that was sent on a certain Slack Channel? I am quite new to this and the thing that I know so far is that you can use new messages as triggers but not for the latest message(of an inactive channel).
