Question

How do I trigger a Zap when a new line is added anywhere in Google Sheets?

I want a zap to trigger when a new line is added either the middle or end of the spreadsheet.

Currently, it only allows for when a new line is added to the bottom of the spreadsheet. I want new lines in the middle as well.

Hi @danielle879235

Good question.

I would recommend using Airtable instead of GSheets.

Airtable has Views, which are segments of data. (sort, filter, group, show/hide fields, reorder fields)

Views can be used to trigger Zaps.

https://support.airtable.com/docs/getting-started-with-airtable-views

we dont use airtable and only use google sheets. any solution for that?

@danielle879235

Adding new lines besides the bottom has a high chance of breaking the Zaps or causing the Zaps not to fire.

ok what if i want a zap anytime anything in the column route goes from “empty” to having content. that way when we add a line and fill in the details, something should trigger. would that work?

Hi there @danielle879235,

Just a quick follow up here. Have you found a solution for your question? If not, have you tried using the “New or Updated Spreadsheet Row” trigger?

Also, I would like to share this help article that might help to avoid breaking your Google Sheets Zap: https://help.zapier.com/hc/en-us/articles/8495995099533-Common-Problems-with-Google-Sheets-on-Zapier
