How do I automatically follow people by integrating Calendly into Instagram?

I host a podcast that I use Calendly to schedule and organize. In the Calendly Signup form I ask for people’s instagram accounts so we can tag them when we publish an episode. I’m curious if there is a way I can automatically follow people by linking calendly and instagram. Does any know how to do this?

When I try it tells me that the instagram is disabled.

Hi @Cole Heilborn

Good question.

Unfortunately, the Instagram Zap app doesn’t have any actions available to use.

Good to know!

I’m assuming it’s the same thing with LinkedIn too? I get the same message

@Cole Heilborn

LinkedIn Zap app only has these 2 actions available:

You can search Zap apps here to see the app profile page that lists the available triggers/actions:

Hey @Cole Heilborn ,

Thanks for reaching out, happy to help! To echo Troy, automating following on Instagram is not currently possible with the Instagram integration.

Hi @Cole Heilborn

Good question.

Unfortunately, the Instagram Zap app doesn’t have any actions available to use.

So I’ve added your email to our feature request on our internal wishlist for this (both the Instagram and LinkedIn actions), which does a few things:

  • Re-raises the issue with our product team.
  • Adds weight to the request (the more “votes” we get the better)
  • Allows us to reach out to you immediately if the functionality becomes available

I don’t have an ETA on when that might happen, but we do use these lists when we’re working on app updates. As we have your email logged as a vote there for both features, we will be sure to drop you an email to let you know as soon as we get any news on either front. We will also be sure to update this thread if it ever becomes a possibility!

To be fully transparent, social media apps like Instagram or LinkedIn rarely allow automation of following. Even for a great workflow like yours, they often hesitate to allow automation in general because it can so easily be misused by spammers or bots. Just to give you a heads up this may not be something that Instagram or LinkedIn ever do allow 😕

I’m so sorry we don’t have a great solution for you now, I’ll be crossing my fingers that this feature becomes available for you in the future!

No problem!

Thanks everyone for the information. It makes sense why something like this isn’t possible.
