Question

How do I automate weekly due dates and assignee summaries from Notion to Slack?

Hey! I am trying to create a notion to slack automation that sends a summary into a slack channel each week.

The summary I want to contain a list of what is due that week, and who it’s assigned to.

We use notion as our project manager. So I want the automation to pull that database data and summarize it into due dates for the week and assignee and then input that into the slack channel.

I started this, but not sure what else I need to do (especially with the “formats section”)

I’d recommend a workflow like this:

  1. In notion, Choose "New Database Item" or "Updated Database Item" depending on how your database is structured.
  2. Use Zapier's "Filter" step and set the filter condition to check the "Due Date" field in your Notion database.
  3. Use a logic like Due Date is in or between [Start of Week] and [End of Week] to isolate tasks due within the week.

  4. Use Zapier's "Formatter" and choose "Text" or "Utilities > Line Item"

  5. Map fields from your Notion database, such as "Task Name," "Due Date," and "Assignee."

  6. Repeat this for each task due this week

  7. Use the "Utilities > Line Item to Text" formatter to combine all tasks into a single summary message.

  8. Choose "Send Channel Message." in slack.

You’ll have to do trial and error, depending on the database values you might have to map the fields accordingly and change the logic.
