How can I automate IT infrastructure and cloud migration tasks with Zapier?

I’m exploring ways to reduce repetitive work in IT operations, especially around cloud migration, infrastructure monitoring, security alerts, and task management. For example, I’d like to automatically create tasks when an issue is reported, notify the right team members, and keep project updates synchronized across different tools.

What Zapier workflows or app combinations have you found useful for automating IT infrastructure or cloud-related processes? I’d especially appreciate examples that work well for teams managing multiple projects or environments.

I’ve found Zapier works really well for handling the coordination side of IT operations rather than directly managing infrastructure itself. A few useful workflows I’ve seen:

  • Incident → task creation: Connect monitoring tools like Datadog, New Relic, or AWS alerts with Jira, Asana, or ClickUp to automatically create tickets when an issue is detected and assign them to the right team.
  • Cloud migration tracking: Use Zapier to sync updates between project management tools, Slack, and documentation platforms so everyone stays updated on migration milestones.
  • Security alerts: Send alerts from security tools into Slack/Teams channels, create follow-up tasks, and notify specific owners based on the type of issue.
  • Change management: When a deployment or infrastructure change is approved, automatically update documentation, notify stakeholders, and create checklists for the operations team.

For teams managing multiple environments, I’d recommend setting up a central workflow where alerts/events come in, get categorized, and then trigger the right actions across tools. It helps reduce manual handoffs and keeps communication consistent.

IT automation can help reduce manual work during infrastructure and cloud migration tasks. Common workflows include automating access requests, monitoring alerts, ticket creation, asset tracking, and notifications between different tools. The key is to first identify repetitive tasks and then connect the right systems through automation workflows.
