Housecall Pro and QuickBooks Online: Accessing missing job type and line item data

'm building a Zap: Housecall Pro → QuickBooks Online (Create Invoice), and I have two questions:

  1. The "New Completed Job" trigger in Housecall Pro doesn't expose the "job_type" field or the name of the service used on the job — only customer data, tags, and total amount. Is there any way to access more details about this job (line items, service type) through this app in Zapier?
  2. As an alternative, I'm considering using the "New Invoice" trigger from QuickBooks Online instead. Does that trigger expose the "Product/Service" field for each line item on the invoice? I need to read that field to automatically identify the service type.

My trial ends in a few days and I need to resolve this urgently. Any guidance is appreciated!

Hi and welcome to the Community @Dalis! 👋

When a trigger doesn't have certain fields, it's sometimes possible to use a search action to find the relevant item and get the missing details. Housecall Pro doesn't seem to have any "Find Job" action though, so your alternative idea of triggering on the invoice instead might be the better route. That said, there is an existing feature request for a "Find Job" action to be added to the Housecall Pro app, so let me know if that's something you'd like and I'll add your vote for it.

The QuickBooks Online New Invoice trigger doesn’t output a field specifically called “Product/Service” but it does give details for each line item, like DetailType, ID, ItemRef name and value. So you should be able to identify the product/service from those.

Give that a try and let us know how it goes!

And if you need to extend your trial, you can do that from within your account. 🙂
