[Google Ads] Report Offline Conversion Value Update

Hi Zapier Community,

I’m running a Google Ads Maximize Conversion Value campaign, and I need to update conversion values when a customer upgrades their purchase after the initial conversion.

For example:

  • Original value: $5

  • Upgrade after 7 days: $50

Currently, I’m using the Zapier standard ‘Send Offline Conversion’ event to Google Ads to report the first conversion and want to ask about the best way to update the value for conversions that upgrade.

Potential solution

  1. Send a new offline conversion with the original GCLID and transaction/order ID.

  2. Report only the value difference ($45 in this example) for Value.

My question

  1. Will this approach work effectively?

  2. If so, which timestamp should I use: original or upgrade?

  3. Or.. is this a poor solution and better to use API request (beta) to interface with Google’s ConversionAdjustmentUploadService service?

Looking forward to your advice!

Thank you.

Hi @AnishG,

Welcome to the Community.

Zapier confirms that sending a new offline conversion with the original GCLID and reporting only the value difference is viable. However, the timestamp choice affects attribution, and using the ConversionAdjustmentUploadService offers more flexibility but requires technical expertise. Before proceeding, ensure your Google Ads settings allow for conversion value adjustments under "Measurement > Conversions > Settings > Include in 'Conversions.'"

Thanks for the confirmation, JammerS! Much appreciated.

For now, reporting isn’t as important for me as simply feeding the right data to the algorithm for optimization, so I’ll just proceed with the Zapier-native solution and send new conversion with updated value and original data+timestamp.

Hi @AnishG,

I'm glad the information was helpful! Your approach of sending updated conversion data with the original values and timestamps optimizes your algorithm. Zapier is flexible, so feel free to experiment and adjust your workflows as needed.
