[Google Ads] Report Offline Conversion Value Update

Hi Zapier Community,

I’m running a Google Ads Maximize Conversion Value campaign, and I need to update conversion values when a customer upgrades their purchase after the initial conversion.

For example:

  • Original value: $5

  • Upgrade after 7 days: $50

Currently, I’m using the Zapier standard ‘Send Offline Conversion’ event to Google Ads to report the first conversion and want to ask about the best way to update the value for conversions that upgrade.

Potential solution

  1. Send a new offline conversion with the original GCLID and transaction/order ID.

  2. Report only the value difference ($45 in this example) for Value.

My question

  1. Will this approach work effectively?

  2. If so, which timestamp should I use: original or upgrade?

  3. Or.. is this a poor solution and better to use API request (beta) to interface with Google’s ConversionAdjustmentUploadService service?

Looking forward to your advice!

Thank you.

Hi @AnishG,

Welcome to the Community.

Zapier confirms that sending a new offline conversion with the original GCLID and reporting only the value difference is viable. However, the timestamp choice affects attribution, and using the ConversionAdjustmentUploadService offers more flexibility but requires technical expertise. Before proceeding, ensure your Google Ads settings allow for conversion value adjustments under "Measurement > Conversions > Settings > Include in 'Conversions.'"

Thanks for the confirmation, JammerS! Much appreciated.

For now, reporting isn’t as important for me as simply feeding the right data to the algorithm for optimization, so I’ll just proceed with the Zapier-native solution and send new conversion with updated value and original data+timestamp.

Hi @AnishG,

I'm glad the information was helpful! Your approach of sending updated conversion data with the original values and timestamps optimizes your algorithm. Zapier is flexible, so feel free to experiment and adjust your workflows as needed.

@AnishG , does that mean the following:

  • If a new timestamp is sent in the Google Ads Offline Conversion, the value is an incremental value.
  • If the same timestamp is used, the value is restated in Google Ads.

Can you please confirm this?

I am trying to restate the value of lost offline conversion tracking leads and am wondering how to restate conversion value for the same gclid.

@sharatamazing , this has been my understanding indeed.. However, tbh the approach I said I will do in the thread has been feeling a little unreliable so far.

This is odd but to give you an example.. several hours ago I tried to add an incremental value to a conversion by setting timestamp +1 hour than original (hoping to simply have the Google Ads algo count it twice to give it more value as I simply wanted to 2x the original value). 3 hour later.. success: It showed up for that date as incremental value at first for that date. But now that I look again after a few more hours, it’s back to the original. My guess is Google may have detected it as a duplicate and removed it consequently. Strange, but anyway.. I’ll try the value adjustment via the appropriate Google Ads API request feature in Zapier to go for the most robust option.

About your situation.. sounds like first thing to do is definitely re-importing the same conversion data with the original timestamp. Again, Google may not register it if it detects it as a duplicate conversion.. but if it does detect it as such, the value is not really “lost”, is it?

@sharatamazing , just realized.. in your case it sounds like it’s a one-off upload / fix that you’re after, rather than a regular automation. Is that right? If so, I guess simplest approach is to just use the Google Ads UI and do a manual upload.

You can find the CSV/excel template for “Conversion adjustments using Google Click ID” in the UI as well (Under Conversions → Upload)
