I am new to Zapier and wanted to test it out for my new startup and get ahead but even with the help of Chat GPT I am unable to get it done…

Here is what I am trying to accomplish:

I want to connect my slack to a google sheet… Anytime a new lead hits my channel I want the information to hit the correct spreadsheet.. Currently it’s broken down into pickleball, golf and Tennis.

So if someone filled out the form and selected Tennis I want that persons information to be shown on the Tennis sheets.

Here is where I am stuck at:

I also feel that I messed up on the Formatter by Zapier

Hi @LeiConde2016 , instead of formatter by Zapier, I would use Filter by Zapier. You need to identify which field on Slack contains the values: Pickleball, Tennis, Golf and filter by that field. Depending on the answer provided, the zap should continue down one of three branches(which will also need to be added). The end result of each branch will be a spreadsheet row created on the respective sport.

One bump you may come across is how to retrieve the sport provided in Slack. If it’s the output of a form it should be a simple selection. If the selected sport is contained within a larger body of text, there may be some parsing required.

Hope this helps!

Hi @LeiConde2016

Which Form app is being used to send data to the Slack Channel as a Message?

If you need to parse data from the Slack Channel Message, you can use this Zap action: AI by Zapier - Analyze and Return Data

Info about Zap filter and routing…

I will try both options @Troy Tessalone @robintrainward  and hopefully figure it out… I appreciate both of you helping out.

Hi @LeiConde2016,

Just keep us posted so we can assist you further if needed. Thank you @Troy Tessalone and @robintrainward for pointing the member on the right track.

@JammerS I was actually unable to solve it and even tried a custom code and that didn’t work.. I might have to look into other alternatives as I can’t get it to work.

Hi @LeiConde2016,

If your Zap isn't working despite trying custom code, start by reviewing each step of your setup for errors and testing them individually to pinpoint the issue. Check any error messages for clues and consider posting in the Zapier Community for advice. If the problem persists, explore alternative automation tools or contact Zapier Support for personalized help. Hiring a Zapier Solution Partner could provide a tailored solution for complex workflows.
