I’m trying to incorporate a step that finds a clio matter based on the a custom field. For some reason, “Matter Type” is a required field in the Set Up. I want this step to seach all of my matters. Any idea why Type is a required field? I might have to create a separate path for each of my 10 matter types.

...I figured it out. Apparently, it was due to “case type” being a required field within Clio.

Hi there @JLO,

Before we dig deeper into this, would you mind sharing a detailed screenshot of how your Zap is configured? Also, please share a screenshot of the “CONFIGURE” section of the action step that shows all of its fields.

Please don't include personal information in the screenshot, or be sure blur out any personal information.

Thanks!

Ken,

Thank you for your response. I’ve attached the configuration options. The “Case Type” is the problematic field. I’m struggling to get a screen shot of the entire zap. The printscreen option on my very janky home laptop is not working. I will work on it with my office computer tomorrow. Basically, the zap triggers when I receive email notices from my state’s efiling system (Gmail matching search) then uses formatter to extract certain information out of the text and makes a time entry in Clio. This works. As of now, it makes all the entries on a matter I created just for that purpose and I manually assign them to the proper matter. The step I’m trying to add would search for a clio matter using the case number from the email and assign the time entry that matter.

That’s an amazing news @JLO! Glad to hear that the issue is now resolved by mapping the “Case Type” field in Clio.
