Critical Look At The New Folder UI

Who’s driving UI design at Zapier? The new Zap list view has some plusses, but there are some major deficiencies as well. I work in folders pretty much all the time, and you removed the search functionality from folders.

You have a massive amount of real estate next to the “Create” button within a folder...please put a search bar there!

You also made it impossible to sort by 'status' within a folder, so if I want to find the inactive Zap I use as a template, I have to paginate through hundreds of Zaps to find it, or go back out of my working folder to search from a different page. For that matter, why are not ALL columns sortable - why are you assuming that the default/only sort method that your users want is “A-Z”?

I sent feedback about this via several methods, and assumed others would complain too and this would be addressed. But it remains a poor experience, so as a last resort I’m trying to start a conversation here to see if I’m the only one that hates some things about the new UI.

Did this topic help you find an answer to your question?

Hi @LinkedInAutomator, welcome to the Community! 🎉

Thank you so much for sharing this detailed feedback—we really appreciate it! I’m certain you’re not alone in wanting features like having a search bar available while viewing the contents of a folder, having all columns sortable, and sorting options beyond A-Z. I see that some of that functionality has been implemented when Zaps are listed not by folder:

But the ability to set up custom filters when Zaps are listed by folder, or to sort them by multiple columns etc. isn’t in place. This would be really useful to have so I’ve passed your comments here over to the Product Team for consideration. I can’t make any promises around when or if they will be get those ideas implemented, but we’ll be sure to notify you if they are! Thanks again for taking the time to share your thoughts so that we can make Zapier better. 🧡

If there’s anything else I can help with in the meantime please do let me know. 🙂

@SamB - I appreciate you passing that on to the product team. Zapier is an integral part of our workflows, and with hundreds of Zaps in our account, swift navigation and the ability organize by folder—and then easily work within those folders—is critical.
