When do you build a zap vs when do you build an agent?

I’m in the early, early phase of building an agent for some tasks and I’m feeling like it would make more sense to use a zap for things that don’t require context or interpretation. I could easily see myself building an agent and going overboard or over complicating something by using an agent. What are some of the questions or “tests” do you use to determine if you need a zap or an agent?

Hey @Tandem Realty,

I understand it can be difficult to choose when to usual Zaps vs the agents. I think mainly you want to use agents when you want the workflow to take autonomous capability rather than a rule based workflows. Agents also can access the web as well as access live data. Usually there will be less control for each step with agents as AI will decide which steps to trigger based on the objective.

PS: If you need any professional help and want to leverage AI agents and automations for your business, I can help as I am a Zapier Official Silver Solution Partner and you can contact me through my solution page here or just send a DM from my profile :)

Thanks, Sparsh. Yeah, i had the same thoughts on it but wanted to see if there was an angle I wasn’t thinking about. I appreciate the offer to help.
