How to Integrate Contact Form 7 with Zapier Using Webhooks

I'm looking for a reliable way to integrate WordPress Contact Form 7 with Zapier so that form submissions can automatically trigger actions in other apps, such as adding leads to a CRM, updating Google Sheets, or sending notifications.

I've been exploring the webhook approach, where Zapier's Catch Hook receives the form submission data and passes it to the next step in a Zap. However, I'm still trying to understand the best way to configure the webhook, map form fields correctly, and troubleshoot submissions that don't arrive as expected.

While researching possible solutions, I also came across Contact Form to Any API, which can send Contact Form 7 submissions directly to an API endpoint or webhook. It looks like a useful alternative when you need to pass form data to a specific endpoint without adding another middleware step.

I'd love to hear from anyone who has tried either approach:

  • Is using Webhooks by Zapier the best way to connect Contact Form 7 to a Zap?

  • Has anyone used Contact Form to Any API for sending form submissions to a webhook or API endpoint?

  • Are there any important considerations for field mapping, payload formats, or testing the integration?

I'd appreciate any recommendations or real-world experiences. Thanks!

Hi @brianbaker

Here’s a guide to follow:

Troy's guide covers the setup nicely. One small addition worth noting is that the field names Zapier receives are the ones set in your CF7 form tags, so naming them clearly in WordPress saves confusion when mapping later. If submissions do not arrive, checking the webhook URL in CF7 and confirming the form posts successfully is a sensible first step. Contact Form to Any API works well if you prefer skipping the webhook, though it adds another plugin to maintain.

That’s a useful point about keeping CF7 field names consistent. One other option for this setup is to send submissions directly to the target API, with the endpoint and field mapping configured for the service receiving the data. Contact Form to Any API supports this approach for Contact Form 7, which can simplify things when you only need to pass form data to an external API.

Thanks for sharing the guide, Troy! Webhooks are a useful way to connect CF7 with Zapier. If the goal is simply to send form submissions to an external API, a direct API integration with field mapping and authentication can also simplify the workflow.
