Hi All,

For quite some time now, I've been struggling to connect my Strato email with Zapier's SMTP. Interestingly, IMAP works perfectly without any issues. After about 30 seconds, the SMTP connection gives a timeout error, even though I believe I’ve entered everything correctly.

I recently discovered that Zapier does not support port 465, which is unfortunately the only port my provider supports. This seems to be the root of the problem.

Has anyone else experienced this issue, or does someone have a solution? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Taylor Group,

Welcome to the Community.

Zapier only supports SMTP ports 25, 587, and 2525, which may cause issues if your email provider only supports port 465. You can request a compatible port from your provider or consider switching to a Zapier-compatible email service like Gmail, Outlook, or Mailgun.

Hi Taylor!

We were facing the same issue. We used Port 587 and it works. If you log into your Strato account, they also suggest this port in their SMTP settings. And you need the fill in the From Email field.

Hey @Taylor Group 👋

Did Sandra’s suggestion of setting the port to 587 do the trick?

Keen to ensure you’re all set so let us know whether you’re still stuck at all! 🙂
