Zapier not using latest Gmail signature

I have a number of zaps defined, all of which are set to pull the signature from my gmail account.

However, I just changed the signature in the gmail account, and I find that the zaps are still using a cached version of the signature.

I tried to “refresh” the signature settings in zapier, but the old info is still being sent.

I tested by creating a new zap… and it correctly pulls the proper info… how can I force zapier to clear its cache?

Hi @fitm

Try this:

  1. Remove the selected Signature in the Zap field.
  2. Publish the Zap.
  3. Edit the Zap.
  4. Select the desired Signature in the Zap field.
  5. Publish the Zap.

Thanks for following up here to confirm that sorted it @fitm! 🤗

Really pleased Troy’s suggestion helped to get the Zap to use the correct Gmail signature. Seems like you’re all set for now, but please do reach out in the Community again if you need any further help. In the meantime, happy Zapping! ⚡

Hi! How do we avoid having to do this for every zap that uses a signature, every time we change the signature? For example, if I get promoted and have a new title, I don’t want to go in and change each of the 73 zaps that use my email signature :( Thank you!

Hi @acrf,

From what I can see, the signature should update in the Zap once it’s been changed in Gmail. Have you tried updating your Gmail signature to see if the Zap reflects the change automatically?

I'll be keeping an eye out for your response!

Hi! Yup, I tried that, and the Zap doesn’t reflect the change automatically :( It keeps the old signature until I manually go in to the Zap, edit the zap to select the new signature, and then publish :(

Hi @acrf,

If changes to your email signature aren't automatically updating in Zapier, ensure your Zap references a dynamic signature field rather than static text. Verify the trigger pulls the latest data, test with updated information, and refresh connections if needed. Some apps cache data, so checking caching settings and reviewing field mappings can help.

If the issue persists, providing details about your apps and signature setup could aid further troubleshooting. Let us know how we can assist.

Hi!  Thank you so much for your help - When you say to ensure that my Zap references a dynamic signature field rather than static, what does that mean exactly? Here’s a screenshot of what it looks like, and “Static” is the only option I can choose to hook into the Gmail signature. Basically, when I change the signature in Gmail and I come back into the zap, the signature that used to be selected will be unselected, because it no longer exists (since it was edited). I have to refresh the results and then select it again, and that’s the only way I can get the new signature.

Hi there @acrf,

I believe this is a feature request for the Gmail integration to automatically update the signature if there’s an update to it.

You can reach out to our Support Team to create a feature request on your behalf. You can contact them here: https://zapier.com/app/get-help

Hopefully, this helps.
