Hi all -

My questions pertains to re-running a zap through a newer version of the zap after I have updated it. Is this possible?

Some crucial background to this that makes the answer slightly less simple I’d think.

I have a zap checking for a new line item entered into an online excel sheet, that once it has been created - creates a new ClickUp Task within a specified list with some additional info/properties. My problem is, the service provider that uses this sheet to track their info which I need to automate into ClickUp, keeps adding or removing columns from their sheet.

In their excel sheet I have a column dedicated to ClickUp Task ID. When they enter a new line item, the zap has a filter to check for this task ID - and should it NOT already exist, only then continues to create the ClickUp Task, and then writes that task ID back into the sheet after the execution.

This has caused some runs to be paused which I would want to be able to run after adapting the zap to the new excel sheet layout as the ClickUp Task ID column has moved etc.

My issue is - if I edit/update the zap, when selecting the column for the excel sheet to test the filter for the ClickUp Task ID - it doesn’t seem to have a refreshed view of the sheet and still works on the old layout, even after deleting the filter and adding it back again.

It looks like I have to create the full zap from scratch for it to take the newest sheet layout into account.

If I do that then - am I able to transfer those old “On Hold” zap runs to this newest zap and execute them from there?

Hope this makes sense. Any insight would truly be appreciated!

Hi @Ruan Bezuidenhout

Help link about how to replay and entire Zap Run: https://help.zapier.com/hc/en-us/articles/8496241726989-Replay-Zap-runs#h_01K2ZV1H9QXBXVZ9KG1KXP0CAH

Hi @Troy Tessalone appreciate the link to the article.

However, as I’ve mentioned - the filter for the excel sheet doesn’t update (refresh) to the newest column layout when editing the zap, and hence the zap simply ends up executing in the same manner - not implementing any changes.

@Ruan Bezuidenhout

Things to check/try:

  • Try refreshing the Zap step fields using the refresh button
  • Try selecting a different Worksheet in the Spreadsheet, then switch back
  • Try changing the Excel app account, then switch back

Hello @Ruan Bezuidenhout ,

Chance here, from Zapier Support!

If the Excel sheet is being updated, it’s key to re-test the trigger of the Zap afterwards to get an updated sample and its payload. That should contain the latest data from the Sheet, including all current columns.

We have options for test records in our guide here: Modify test records in Zaps
