YouTube “The request cannot be completed because you have exceeded your quota” error
Hi all --
I have a Zap that gets triggered when a new video appears in a playlist. Over the past 10 days I’ve received a couple of failure notification emails from Zapier that indicate
Error Message:
YouTube: Trigger partner failure: The app returned "The request cannot be completed because you have exceeded your quota.".
Any suggestions on how to stop this from happening?
FWIW, the only other post on this that I’ve found is this one:
which refers you to a Google API docs, and through them, to the Google API console, which doesn’t actually show who and how quota units are being used up. Is there a way to find out how many quota units are being use by a Zap, or if not, influence the triggering somehow? My Zap only needs to run once a day, but right now the only relevant YouTube trigger options seem to be to select “When a video shows up in a playlist”.
Any suggestions would be appreciated -- thanks in advance!

Thanks for getting in touch here, @sweetfeetpete and @RightChoiceCA!
I’m very sorry about the delay in getting this sorted. I can totally see how badly this issue must be affecting your Zaps and businesses. I really wish I had some better news to share here but unfortunately we still don’t have an ETA on when the quota limits will be increased.
As you’re both on the list of affected users you’ll definitely be notified the moment the limits are increased!
@christina.d please add me to the list of affected users. Thank you!
Absolutely, @Sarahm! You’ve been added to that list.
Hey @christina.d could you please add me to the list as well? I’m getting the same error message when setting up my zap. Thanks!
Same issue here, please add me to the list!
Of course, @mainstreetwolf and @gya9! I’ve added you both to the list of affected users. We’ll be in touch as soon as it’s been sorted.
Hey everyone! :)
@Ar3m3f, I can see that you’ve reached out to our Support team about this and have been added to the bug report for this issue here.
@360Creators, I’ve added you to the list of affected users on that same bug report so we’ll be in touch once it’s been sorted out.
@Ambler, as mentioned in the other thread I’ve added you to the bug report for this.
We’ll be in touch once we have any further news on this!
Moderator Edit: Removed suggestion of turning the Zap off and on again as this appears to now be resulting in a “There was a problem activating your Zap” error.
Just got an e-mail about the same thing.
Sorry to hear that, @mizifih. I’ve added you to the list of affected users as well.
I have the same issue.
Thanks for letting us know, @Hazeyhoop! I’ve got you added.
Adding another +1 to the list of impacted users. Thank you!
I’d like to be added to the list as well, I’m running into this issue and it happened fairly quickly after setting up the Youtube API with Zapier.
I saw another thread which specifically addressed my issue: I am getting an error stating that my youtube account (or connection) is expired when I try to add my youtube account to a zap.
That thread said to post here and request to be emailed when the issue has been addressed.
Thanks for letting us know @Aanandh Chan and @7000ftofsound! I’ve got both of you added to that report and we’ll be in touch one a fix is in place.
Hi there, @methodman! I just wanted to double check are you also receiving email notifications with “Trigger partner failure: The app returned "The request cannot be completed because you have exceeded your quota”? I’ll keep an eye out and if so we’ll get ya added to this report.
This really should be a top priority as you now have almost 200 replies to this thread alone and have closed other threads on the same topic. Not to mention this issue was brought up a month ago... This seems to be an issue with your Google API calls quota being used up. If you are using the same API key for all users, bad practice. If you aren’t, we need an increase across the board or give the option to your users to increase if they deem it necessary.
Thanks for letting us know @Aanandh Chan and @7000ftofsound! I’ve got both of you added to that report and we’ll be in touch one a fix is in place.

I am not getting any emails. I haven’t been able to even set up the zap.
Hello, I got the same problems, cant connect the youtube channel anymore, saying it has expired.
I’ve received those e-mails for quite some weeks now actually, but always ignored them because everything worked as intented (normally only 1 Zap a day I’m using).
“ YouTube: Trigger partner failure: The app returned "The request cannot be completed because you have exceeded your quota.". “
But since today that didn’t work any longer, so i tried some troubleshooting and now I can’t connect the channel anymore.
Having the same issue here. What’s the eta on when this will be fixed? Really frustrating.
Hi there,
Thanks for managing this thread as we’re also experiencing the issue (screenshot).
We’d like to be added to the list as well, please.
Hopefully, this is helpful, though definitely feel free to let me know if you have any questions. I’d be happy to help.
Hi,
We’re also experiencing the same issue and would like to be added to the list (screenshot)
Thanks in advance for the help.
Same error……..please help me~!
@SamB Experiencing same issue.
@SamB Experiencing same issue.
Same
@SamB add me to the bug report. This is frustrating as YouTube is a part of our publishing pipeline. Anytime the YouTube upload fails with this error it makes everything else after it fail. How is there not a fix yet?
