Why is my Memberstack update trigger firing thousands of tasks?

Hi,

I’m unsure why this is happening, but the last two days I’m getting an extensive spike in Tasks for the one of my Memberstack “Update Member” Trigger. I’m using this so folks can update their pofile information. Send it to Membertack and then back to Webflow. This is used on a few Zaps, but one appears to fire thousands. I can’t gather why it would randomly start firing of 5K tasks at a time when I click the update button in Webflow.

I’d love to know how I can resolve this, or if there’s a way that I can look towards more efficiencies in my setup. Anyone ever have this issues?

Hi @glcreative

Welcome to the Community!

This sounds like you may have accidentally set up a Zap loop. Zaps can get stuck in “loops” where they run over and over again from the same data. Zap loops can occur if:

  • You have an action in one Zap that triggers another Zap and the second Zap has an action that triggers the first Zap.
  • You have an action in a Zap that also triggers that same Zap.

You can read more about this here: Zap is stuck in a loop

To help us check your Zap set up further, could you a share a screenshot of the Zap steps?

Thank you! This was the fix. I never even thought of this being a possible effect with how I set this up. But it’s obvious now ha. Always the little things. I appreciate the help!
