Why doesn't Slack pick up thread replies in private channels?

This is a configuration issue, not a limitation. Here's the fix:

Use the "New Message Posted to Private Channel" trigger instead of "New Message Posted to Channel."

• The public channel trigger only works for public channels

• The private channel trigger captures all messages in private channels, including thread replies

The trigger explicitly includes messages in threads.

If you only want thread replies (not main messages), add a Filter step:

• Condition: Thread Ts does not exactly match Ts

• This works because thread replies have different values; main messages have matching values

Known bug: May fail if user checks "Also send to channel" when replying. Zapier is working on this.
