When creating a new row in Google Sheets. It is adding the row at 1257 instead of the bottom.

How many rows are there between row 1257 and the actual bottom row of the sheet? And if there anything materially different about the rows above and below 1257.

And are there column headers in the top row of the sheet? That can sometimes cause issues if there aren’t. Google Sheets is kinda delicate!

Issue is likely due to rows having existing values or formulas.

None of the rows in google sheets have formulas.

Try deleting the rows that were skipped to see if that resets where the Zap adds new rows.

Make sure there are:

• headers in row 1 including cell A1
• no gap rows/columns
• no grouped rows/columns

Alternative is to use Airtable or Zapier Tables instead of GSheets since those are database apps not a spreadsheet apps which don’t have some of these limitations and quirks when used in automations/integrations.

From your screenshot it looks like column A has no data.

Make sure column A has data and is not a column with only a header.

I can’t. I’m using G sheets as an in between smartsheet and zapier in order to capture the smartsheet ROW ID into googlesheets as a column and then be able to use that to look up the row in smartsheet for updates.

Column A doesn’t have data because it will be calculated later in smartsheet. It used to work fine.

Try with Column A always having a value in each row that is being created by the Zap or reference by the Zap.

This usually happens when Google Sheets thinks your data continues down to row 1257 (hidden formatting, a stray value, or a formula in a far-down row).

Check around row 1257 and clear any content and formatting below your real data. After that, Zapier should append to the true bottom again.
