I believe the information I am missing is exactly what OAuth scopes are needed by zapier.

I continue to get the error message when trying to connect Bigcommerce in Zapier:

We hit an error adding your new account

authentication failed: The app returned "You don't have a required scope to access the endpoint".

Make sure you click "Allow" or "Accept" on the permission popup

Double check your Account has the correct permissions

Check out our help docs for more information

I am trying to create a zap for when new products are created. Have tried allowing for read-only and modify permissions for content and products.

Thank you to whoever can assist!

Hi @YonderStar,

Welcome to the Community.

If you're encountering OAuth scope issues while connecting BigCommerce to Zapier, ensure all required scopes are granted, including read and modify permissions for products. Reauthorize the connection by revoking access in "My Apps" and reconnecting, carefully accepting all permissions. Check your API settings to confirm the correct scopes are enabled, and clear your browser's cache and cookies to resolve authentication issues. Lastly, reviewing BigCommerce's API documentation can help verify that your granted permissions align with the integration requirements.

If you've tried the above steps but are still experiencing issues, consider contacting Zapier Support or BigCommerce Support. They can provide more detailed assistance and help troubleshoot any specific configuration issues.

Thank you @JammerS for your reply. I have contacted Zapier’s support a couple times but no one has been able to provide assistance. I am just finishing up the Zapier trial period and think it is just not a good fit. Too bad as I was hopeful it would be worth signing up for.

It seems that the problem is Zapier overuses bots and AI to handle their customer service. The responses I was getting via email were pretty much the same as your reply - very polite and seemingly helpful but not addressing my actual question.

Complete details are in my question at the beginning of this thread however the bottom line is: “I believe the information I am missing is exactly what OAuth scopes are needed by zapier… I am trying to create a zap for when new products are created. Have tried allowing for read-only and modify permissions for content and products. ”

Hi @YonderStar,

We sincerely apologize, but to configure OAuth scopes for creating a Zap with new product triggers, ensure your integration has the correct scopes for reading and modifying product data, such as read_products and write_products. Refer to the API documentation for exact scope requirements, test your Zap to confirm correct permissions, and troubleshoot issues by verifying access and rechecking configurations. If problems persist, providing service-specific details will help refine the solution.

I hope this information helps you move forward with your integration. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions or need additional support.

Thank you again for your reply. Unfortunately my free trial has since expired and I do not have confidence to enroll in a paid pro subscription to test this out further.

Hi @YonderStar,

If your Zapier free trial has ended and you're unsure about upgrading, you can still build and test single-step Zaps using core apps within the free plan limits (up to 100 tasks/month). Consider splitting them into multiple Zaps as a workaround for slightly more complex workflows(for Now). Before you could decide to fully upgrade.
