Hey everyone,

I’ve been working on what should be a really simple Zap for 3 weeks now and I can’t get it to work.  I have two issues.

🛠️ Zapier Troubleshooting Notes

Issue 1: Airtable Trigger Won’t Stay on “New Record”

  • In my Zap, the first step uses Airtable and is stuck on “New and Updated Record.”

  • I want it to trigger only on “New Record,” but every time I select it and save, it reverts back to “New and Updated Record.”

  • I’ve already tried the following:

    • Selected “New Record” again and saved it.

    • Disconnected and reconnected Airtable.

    • Changed the app temporarily, then came back to Airtable.

    • Refreshed fields and retried setup.

  • Despite all of this, the trigger won’t update, and it’s causing a looping issue in the Zap.

Issue 2: Emails Are Sending at Midnight Instead of Scheduled Times

  • I’m trying to automate email sends at specific Eastern times: 7:30 AM, 11:30 AM, and 4:30 PM.

  • However, emails are going out at midnight instead.

  • Airtable setup:

    • Date fields are configured to include time.

    • Time zone is set to Eastern (America/New_York).

    • "Use the same time zone for all collaborators" is enabled.

  • Zapier setup:

    • I use a “Format Date/Time” step set to Eastern.

    • Then I run JavaScript that only allows sending between 7:30 AM and 6:30 PM, weekdays only.

    • A “Delay Until” step is based on the JavaScript output.

  • Even with all of that in place, emails are still being sent at the wrong time

Any help is greatly appreciated! I’ve run out of ideas to try.

Hi @Langandq

Try duplicating the Zap and editing the Zap trigger.

Help us have more info by posting screenshots showing how your Zap steps are outlined and configured in EDIT mode with the field mappings visible in the CONFIGURE tab.

FYI: If you need to hire help, there is a directory of Zapier Partners: https://zapier.com/partnerdirectory

Hi @Langandq,

Just popping in to follow up. Kindly share a screenshot of your Zap setup as Troy suggested here. We’re happy to take a closer look at the issue.

I'll be keeping an eye out for your response!

Hey everyone, I was just able to connect with someone who helped me resolve some of the issues.

I really appreciate you reaching out and the support.  I’m going to close this.  Part of the problem was not using custom vs. static in the records, having too many steps that could be consolidated, and trying to do too much in the zap and not breaking it out.

I’m going to take their advice and try to reconfigure it.  Hopefully I’m good to go, but again - really appreciate you guys reaching out.

Thanks for the update, @Langandq. Glad to hear you were able to resolve most of the issues. I’ll go ahead and mark this as answered for now.

Feel free to follow up here, or start a new topic, if you need any further help at all. We’re always happy to lend a hand! 🙂
