Hi, all my 'test' zaps conducted through Zapier have gone through successfully when setting up a Zap to grab details from Squarespace forms to create a new contact in Sendy, so I assumed everything was working as it should.

However, I've just checked, and all 'real' form submissions on Squarespace have not been going through to Sendy since I set up the Zaps three weeks ago. It only works when doing a test run through Zapier, but doesn’t work when filling in the actual form on Squarespace.

When looking at developer tools on Squarespace it says the Sendy API key is for ‘read only’ forms. I’ve contacted IT to see if they can edit the Sendy API key permissions to allow contacts to be created.

Any other ideas what could be causing this or anything else we can try in the meantime? Or is the Sendy API key settings likely the issue?

Thank you!

Hey @Ellie1703,

Can you post screenshots of Data In, Data Out as well as how each Zap step is configured for us to have more context?

Also try seeing in the Zap history for any Zap runs. There you can see if it’s even triggering for Squarespace and if creating contact in Sendly is not working as expected due to API. Hope it helps!

Hi! I’ve included screenshots below.

Also following on from my original post: the IT team said that there’s no way for them to edit the Sendy API key permissions to allow contacts to be created - this is something that needs to be edited in Squarespace.

I looked at the Squarespace developer tools → developer API keys where I added the key to connect to Zapier, and ‘forms’ is selected, which I guess is all that should be needed for this?

Zap history/runs is empty, but the Test zaps from Zapier all have been working correctly and sending the test contacts to Sendy. It’s just when a ‘real’ form submission is done on my client’s squarespace site, that the contact does not go through

Actually my bad, the zap history does show lots of successful runs, I think it just hadn’t loaded before...

OK solved it now! Realised it was an issue with the configuration, where I thought you just put ‘test’ details in. I saw those test details go through to Sendy successfully but didn’t realise those were the values going through each time a form submission happened

Glad that you were able to solve it and figure out there were successful runs from the Zap history.
