Troubleshooting NinjaForms, Zap, and Docusign integration issues

Forum|alt.badge.img

I am having issues with getting Ninjaforms ZAP and Docusign working together.

Form collects email address and is supposed to send a Docusign envelope to the the email address.

I am unable to get this to work, and I am unsure of where to start troubleshooting.

This is the current error that I am getting.

Failed to create a signature request in Docusign

Could not create signature request: ENVELOPE_IS_INCOMPLETE: The Envelope is not Complete. A Complete Envelope Requires Documents, Recipients, Tabs, and a Subject Line.

Is there a video or help page that walks you through the steps to get this to work?

I had it working then I broke it by changing some fields on the Ninjaform side.

I ended up having to remove everything and start over from scratch.

I think I got it working again.  Not sure as I burned through all my docusign quota and have to upgrade to send anymore.

Couple of takeaways.

Why is the area where all of the manipulation in zap takes place relegated to a small box on the right hand side?

Why do you pre-populate a variable field with what appears to be static information? (Screenshot 161011)

The recipient email and name “input boxes” confused me because they had data in them.  If these are going to be filled in from Ninjaforms then it should be marked as such.  Not pre-filled with data that I don’t want in there.

The step in the shown in (Screenshot 162437) is where it really went off the rails!!

Now I’m dealing with the Docusign side of things but there is nothing here to let me know that.  There should be a hard delineation here.  But because there isn’t enough room in the tiny box on the right, I didn't understand this and it sent me chasing my tail for a long while.

Hi @CarpenterAnt4

For us to have more info, post screenshots showing how your Zap steps are outlined and configured in EDIT mode with the field mappings visible.

The error "ENVELOPE_IS_INCOMPLETE" indicates that the DocuSign step is missing required information to create a complete envelope. Specifically, it needs documents, recipients, tabs, and a subject line. From the input data you provided, it seems that the recipient's email and name fields are empty, which are crucial for sending a signature request. To resolve this, ensure that the recipient's email and name are correctly mapped from the previous step's output data. You can do this by editing the DocuSign step in your Zap and using the "Insert Data" button to map the "Email" and "Full Name" fields from the NinjaForms output to the "recipientEmail" and "recipientName" fields, respectively.
Additionally, verify that the template ID and other required fields are correctly set up in your DocuSign account. If the template requires specific roles or additional fields, ensure these are also correctly mapped and filled. If the template requires documents, make sure they are attached or referenced correctly in the Zap. Double-check the template settings in DocuSign to ensure all necessary components are included and correctly configured. Once these adjustments are made, test the Zap again to see if the error is resolved.

@CarpenterAnt4

Make sure you map variables/values to the fields.

e.g. Recipient Email
