Troubleshooting Instagram media upload issues in Zapier

Forum|alt.badge.img

Zapier cannot upload image/media file to Instagram anymore. This has worked fine before for many months, but suddenly it stopped working, about 2 days ago. I haven't changed anything in the ZAP, it has been working exactly as it looks in the screenshots.

See screenshot for error messages and our ZAP.

I have renewed the connection with Instagram – deleted the old one and made a new one. It does not help. Someone suggested that I should RENAME the Instagram connection – how do I do that?

When I click to test the Instagram connection, it works fine.

(The post with image can be made from Instagram directly, no problem with Instagram itself. Instagram accepts the media file if I post it traditionally).

The error message:

The error you're encountering indicates that the media file URL provided to the Instagram Business API is not valid or does not meet Instagram's requirements. This often happens if the URL is not directly accessible or if the media type is not supported. In your case, the URL {{275453726__source_url}} might not be resolving to a valid photo or video file. Ensure that the URL is publicly accessible and points directly to a supported media file (JPEG, PNG, MP4, etc.). You can test the URL by pasting it into a browser to see if it loads correctly.

To resolve this issue, double-check the source of the media URL in your Zap. If the URL is being generated dynamically, ensure that the previous steps in your Zap are correctly formatting and passing the URL. You might want to add a "Formatter by Zapier" step to extract or reformat the URL if necessary. Additionally, verify that the media file is within Instagram's size and format limits. If the URL is correct and the issue persists, consider using a file storage service like Dropbox or Google Drive to host the media and ensure the link is publicly accessible.

Hi @Carina,

Welcome to the Community.

You're experiencing an issue with your Zap due to a problem with the media file URL sent to Instagram. Ensure the URL points to a valid, publicly accessible image in JPEG or PNG format. If the image doesn't load in a browser, check where the URL comes from and consider hosting the file on a more reliable service like Dropbox or Google Drive. Also, renaming a Zapier connection won't fix the issue—it only helps with organization.

I hope this helps. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Hi, thank you for your reply.

There is nothing wrong with the image URL. I have tested the newer images, the are ok and visible.

Also, If I test older posts, which have worked perfectly before and produced an Instagram-post at that time, they don’t work now!

So something else is wrong… does anyone have an idea? Grateful for ANY tip!

Carina

Hello,

exact same issue here. Last week it worked fine, and today after editing my Zap I get the exact same error message. Also my image is reachable, is a png and ratio and file size are fine.

Maybe this is a bug in Zapier today, since there are more people affected?

I’ll stay tuned and hope for help!

Sandra

Hi friends,

Thanks for reaching out! I did some digging into this, and it looks like the error you're encountering when using the Instagram for Business app stems from an issue on Meta’s side. Our team is aware of the problem and is actively working with Meta to get it resolved.

I've gone ahead and added your email as an affected users. That does a few things:

- Bring this to the attention of the integration developers

- Help track and prioritize fixes

- Allows us to notify you via email if/when this is fixed

Unfortunately, I do not have an ETA, but I’ve added you to the list of users affected by this issue so we can let you know as soon as we have any updates.

I appreciate your patience and understanding.

Thanks Ken for looking after this.
