Trouble connecting Zapier to Reddit API for Discord messages

Hello,

I am trying to make a zap that automatically makes a Reddit Text when a new message is posted in a Discord channel.

Now I can't connect Zapier to Reddit.

On Zapier I get a window where I need to put an app id and stuff and there is a link a the bottom to a page on Reddit where I can register such app with reddit - but when I try to do this, I only get an "error" message. I fill out everything and then only get a message about some policies I should read.

Does this have to do with Reddit having removed self-service access to their API?

Do I need to request API access trough their form first?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Freaky2003  It sounds like you’ve run into Reddit’s recent API changes. Yes, Reddit has limited self-service app creation, so the usual “register your app” flow may no longer work for everyone.

You’ll likely need to request API access through Reddit’s official form first. Once approved, you can use the credentials (client ID, secret, etc.) in Zapier to connect.

In short: it’s not a Zapier problem, it’s Reddit’s new API restrictions.

Ok, then I will do so.

Thanks!
