We recently encountered a recursion issue in one of our Zaps and needed to fix it immediately. However, when I attempted to publish the corrected draft, I was blocked by an upgrade prompt even though we are already on a Pro plan.

After escalating internally, my supervisor upgraded the account again. It seemed to work, so we resumed operations.

Unfortunately, I later discovered that the original version of the Zap was still active and had already consumed nearly 16,000 tasks from the new task pool without the intended filter. In total, this single Zap has used 52,485 tasks, costing us over $700.

I have reached out to Support multiple times. Today, during a chat, I was abruptly flagged as inactive and redirected to the AI assistant in the middle of a conversation. This was incredibly frustrating given the urgency of the issue.

This situation is unacceptable. If it is not resolved promptly, our company will seriously consider migrating to Make.

Hi @Marc Schippke

Sounds like you created an infinite loop.

Hi @Troy Tessalone

Thanks for your rapid response. Unfortunately, it misses the core issue.

We are fully aware this was a recursive loop, and that is exactly why we tried to update the Zap immediately. However, we were blocked by a forced upgrade prompt, even though we are already on a Pro plan.

I am happy to provide the requested screenshots, but please understand that the main issue is not a misconfigured Zap. It is a combination of upgrade restrictions, missing safeguards, and poor support experience.

@Marc Schippke

Zapier plans come with Task limits.

Once those Zapier plan Task limits are exceeded, then Zap Runs will be HELD until the Zapier plan billing cycle resets or the Zapier plan is upgraded to have more Tasks.
