Question

The app returned "Invalid Reference Id". I can't' get rid of the error

I am trying to update an invoice from an update invoice action in zapier. Earlier in the automation, I used a Find Invoice action to search for the invoice by the invoice number. This was successful, and returned all the fields of that invoice.
However, when I go to update the invoice and enter the line item details I want to add, searching for invoice by the ID, i get this error. I tried to enter the invoice number instead, tried adding and removing the customer ID, and i can’t get it to work.

Hi @jadecol

For us to have more info about the encountered error, post screenshots showing how your Zap step is configured in EDIT mode with the field mappings visible.

Hey @jadecol

Could you check the value that has been mapped for the ‘Product/Service’ field under the line items? I believe the error might be caused by the product ID (which appears to be 24 in the screenshot you shared) not existing or being incorrect.

To narrow this down, you could try selecting a product from the static drop-down instead of setting a custom value — and then testing the step. I’ve included a screenshot below:

If there’s indeed a product with the ID 24 and this isn’t the issue, I’d recommend reaching out to Zapier support as they could look into this closer and find the issue for you. Here’s the link to where you can contact support: https://zapier.com/app/get-help

Hope this helps!

Hi there, @jadecol! 👋

Was the error caused by an incorrect/non-existent product ID as Jaaro suggested might be the case?
