I am trying to update a Google sheet when I add or update a record in AirTable; however when I go through the mapping process when setting up the action, some of my fields (two URL fields and 1 date field) do not show up as options to map. These cells have contents in AirTable. I have also tried to update the zap, refresh the fields, completely recreate the zap, and attempt both with empty AT cells and filled AT cells. Nothing is working. Any advice?

Hi @WGBquestions

Good question.

Airtable only returns fields with values.

Make sure to test with a record that has the desired fields populated.

Are the fields all the same type? (If yes, then what field type?)

Hi @Troy Tessalone

Yes, the fields are populated and it is two URL fields and one date field.

@WGBquestions

Did you try changing/refreshing the trigger test data?

We’d need more proof in the form of screenshots showing the record ID and fields in Airtable as well as the same one in the Zap trigger examples.

@Troy Tessalone Yes, I tried everything listed in my initial post.

Here are the fields in all places @Troy Tessalone .
Airtable:

Sheets:

Zapier:

@WGBquestions

The provided screenshots don’t show an Airtable Record (preferably with the Record ID) that has the fields populated, along with the corresponding record pull in to the Zap trigger as an example.

@WGBquestions

Airtable Record IDs.

Formula field:

RECORD_ID()

The record ID is in both Sheets and AirTable, and can be seen in both screenshots @Troy Tessalone. Further, you can see that these successfully matched in the Zap action set up. Do you have any other ideas as to why some fields are not being pulled in?

@WGBquestions

You have not provided a screenshot of the record data populated in Airtable that matches to this record ID.

Here it is in both AT and Sheets.

@WGBquestions

Are you able to provide screenshots with the other fields populated for that record in Airtable for the data points that aren’t available in the Zap trigger?

Yes, see below:

@Troy Tessalone forgot to tag you in the above screen shot!

@WGBquestions

Were you able to pull thru an updated version of the Airtable Record in the Zap trigger: https://help.zapier.com/hc/en-us/articles/8496310366093

@Troy Tessalone Can you elaborate on how Airtable only returns fields with values? I’m running into an issue where this is the root cause. When Zapier goes to get data from an Airtable column, but that specific row has no value for that column, it’s causing me serious downstream effects. Most notably, in the action step, Zapier simply drops the variable entirely and doesn’t send it to the provider in the Action step. Then, since that provider doesn’t receive even a null variable, everything is breaking on their end too.

I need a way to recognize that an Airtable field is empty, which is different from the field not existing at all. Hope this makes sense.

@taykcrane

Might be best to post your own topic so it gets proper attention.
