I’ve started setting up a zap so when something is posted in a slacks channel it it creates an update in one of the items in my monday.com board.

Curent set up

  1. Slack: new message posted to channel - tested and connect - has the green tick
  2. Slack: Get message by timestamp - tested and connect - has the green tick
  3. Monday.com: Create update - error

Hey @Get Skilled,

Please post screenshots of Data in, Data Out, the error as well as how each Zap step is being configured for us to have more context.

It can probably be a probably with the data that you are passing Monday Create Update action. Check that if it’s valid item ID or any other fields that are expecting something else. Hope it helps!

Hi @Get Skilled

For us to have more info, post screenshots showing how your Zap steps are outlined and how your Monday Zap step is configured in the CONFIGURE tab while in EDIT mode with the field mappings visible, along with the encountered error.

Hello @Get Skilled

Totally doable. Since both Slack steps are green, the error is almost always in the monday.com step.

Make sure:

  1. You’re providing a real monday.com Item ID (Create Update won’t work without one)

  2. Your monday.com connection has permission to post updates on that board

  3. You’re mapping plain Slack text (not blocks/objects)

Quick test: hardcode a known Item ID + type a simple update message. If that works, the mapping is the issue.

If you paste the exact error text from the monday.com step, we can pinpoint it fast.

Hi there @Get Skilled! 👋 Just checking in, were you able to get the Zap posting updates in Monday successfully?

If you're still having trouble, can you share the error message as well as some screenshots of how the Monday action is configured? That’ll allow us to check there’s no issues on the setup that might be causing some trouble.
