Question

Shopify native Payment Terms not available in New Order or Find Order

I’m building a Zap from Shopify to QuickBooks Online and need to pass Shopify’s native Payment Terms to the QuickBooks invoice.

Shopify order #1537 has native payment terms of Net 45 and a due date of November 15, 2026.

However, the Shopify New Order trigger does not return Payment Terms or the payment due date. I also tried the Shopify Find Order action, and neither field appears there.

Other order data is coming through correctly, including financial status, fulfillment status, PO number, customer information, and line-item data.

Has anyone found a way to retrieve Shopify’s native Payment Terms (such as Net 30/Net 45 and/or the due date) in Zapier?

I’d prefer to use Shopify’s existing native Payment Terms rather than duplicate the information in a tag or metafield.

Hi @tklopp

Try this Zap action: Shopify - API Request

TIP: Ask AI to help with the API request.

NOTES:

  • Shopify requires the read_payment_terms scope to access these fields.
    • If Zapier's existing Shopify connection has that scope, the API Request step should work directly.
    • If it does not, the request will be denied and you'd need a Shopify custom app/API connection that includes read_payment_terms.

Use Shopify's GraphQL Admin API with a query like:

query GetOrderPaymentTerms($id: ID!) {
order(id: $id) {
id
name
paymentTerms {
paymentTermsName
paymentTermsType
dueInDays
paymentSchedules(first: 10) {
nodes {
dueAt
issuedAt
}
}
}
}
}

Thanks, Troy — this is very helpful.

I actually tried the Shopify API Request (Beta) action in Zapier. When I opened it, Zapier displayed the OAuth scopes for the Shopify connection, and read_payment_terms was not included in that list.

Given that, am I correct that the GraphQL query you provided will be denied using Zapier's standard Shopify connection?

If so, do you know whether there's any way to add/authorize the read_payment_terms scope to Zapier's existing Shopify connection, or would I definitely need to create a Shopify custom app/API connection?

I've also asked Zapier Support about the missing scope and sent them screenshots showing Shopify's native Payment Terms field.

Hi @tklopp

You would have to explore the custom API request route if those scopes are not included.

  • App: Code by Zapier
    • Try using the package for the Shopify SDK
  • App: API by Zapier
  • App: Webhooks by Zapier

Hi @tklopp 👋 Just wanted to check how you got on with Troy's suggestions here?

Let us know if one of those apps did the trick, or if you could do with any help setting it up.
