Shopify app no longer provides the Tracking Number in Zapier for several months

Hi everyone,
For several months now, the Shopify app in Zapier has stopped providing the tracking number for fulfilled orders. This data used to appear normally (especially in triggers like New Fulfillment or Updated Fulfillment), but it is no longer included in the output at all.

I have tested multiple scenarios:

  • Different Shopify stores

  • Different triggers (New Order, New Fulfillment, Updated Fulfillment)

  • Full reauthentication of the Shopify app

  • Rebuilding the Zap from scratch

Result: the tracking number field is missing everywhere, which breaks our automation workflows.

Could someone confirm whether this is a known bug, a recent change in the Shopify integration, or an unintended regression?
And most importantly: is there any workaround to retrieve the tracking number again through Zapier?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Hi there @MDsmt 👋

I’m so sorry to hear about the tracking numbers going missing! I had a look into this and saw our Support team have added you to a bug where fulfilled orders data sent over from Shopify is no longer including the tracking number. I can’t share any sort of ETA as to when it will be fixed but you’ll definitely get an email notification from us once it is!

I see they suggested the adding short a delay followed by either a Get Order by ID or Get Fulfillment Orders by Order ID search action to find the tracking number but it didn’t work. So it could be that those actions may be affected by the bug as well. 🤔

As an alternative approach, you could try using our Copilot assistant to generate a Custom Action that retrieves the tracking number. I’m not certain whether Copilot has access to see Shopify’s current API documentation so you might need copy and paste some of the details from Shopify’s GraphQL documentation for fulfillments if it gets stuck.

If you give that a try, please let me know how it goes!

Hi @MDsmt

Try adding a Zap action step to find the Shopify Order by ID to see if that returns the desired field.

I did so and it still does not provide the data “Fulfillment tracking number” or any kind of data associated with it. Am I the only one?

@MDsmt

Make sure you are testing the Shopify Zap trigger and Shopify Zap action with a Shopify Order that has a Tracking Number.

Try searching by the Tracking Number value to make sure the value is or is not being returned when trying to map a variable between Zap steps.

Try opening a ticket with Zapier Support: https://zapier.com/app/get-help
