Sending automated alerts to WhatsApp channels using Zapier

I use Zapier to send ON / OFF alerts related to the electricity grid to local residents via WhatsApp channels. I am currently using the Wassenger integration but am facing issues. Is there a best practice for sending automated message to whatsapp channels via zapier?

Hey @nadim 👋

Not sure if there's been any further downtime since, but it might be worth adding an error handler to the Wassenger action so that if it errors again in the future and fails to send the message, the Zap can send you an alert with the message text that needs to be sent to the group so you can share it in the WhatsApp channel directly. Not ideal, but could be a useful backup if their service doesn't go down too frequently. You can learn more about error handlers here: Set up custom error handling.

If you give that a try and run into any trouble, just let us know!

Hi @nadim

Did this suggestion work for you? Were you able to fix the issue? If not, could you share a screenshot and a quick description of what your Zap is doing? That would help us troubleshoot the issue better.

Thank you for the documentation. I have been through their documentation when I setup my service. The Wassenger service works well in normal time. There was downtime a few days ago on Wassenger and there were no communications about why this happened. Their service went back online but there were no justifications for why there was an interruption. I understand this is an “invite only” integration with Zapier and support level is different. What if this happens again? My zap sends WhatsApp channel alerts about grid status based on IoT device triggered webhook and usually it works well with a bit of delay. Lots of people rely on these alerts for their home electricity consumption.
