I'm having trouble resolving the error "The imported event has a conversion_date_time that precedes the click" when importing offline conversions from Google Sheets to Google Ads via Zapier.

I've searched through previous posts but haven't found a similar issue.

Here's the context:

  • I'm using Zapier to automatically import data from Google Sheets to Google Ads whenever the sheet is updated.
  • While multiple rows in the spreadsheet are updated, only one record is successfully imported to Google Ads.
  •

  • I've received the error message "The imported event has a conversion_date_time that precedes the click."

Since at least one record is successfully imported, I believe the data itself is correct.

Can you please help me resolve this issue?

Hi @hayato

"The imported event has a conversion_date_time that precedes the click."

Error indicates the provided timestamp for the conversion was before the matching timestamp for the click.

Make sure that the timestamps in your source data and your Google Ads account have the same timezone configured.

If you need to add error handling to the Zap step: https://help.zapier.com/hc/en-us/articles/22495436062605-Set-up-custom-error-handling

If you need to adjust timestamps: Formatter > Date & Time > options

  • Add/Subtract Time
  • Format

Thank you  @Troy Tessalone .I will revise the time zone and send a reply within an hour. However, if the time zone is incorrect, wouldn't all the offline conversion submissions fail? For reference, I am working in Japan and have been importing data using Japan Standard Time until now.

@hayato

Depends when the original click was registered vs when you are trying to send the data to GAds and the timestamp value being used.

Thank you for your response! I've adjusted the conversion time's time zone from JST to UTC, but I'm still encountering the same issue. Could you please advise me on what to check next?

@hayato

Did you try this tip?

If you need to adjust timestamps add this Zap step: Formatter > Date & Time > options

  • Add/Subtract Time
  • Format

Yes, I've tried that as well.  As you can see in the attached screenshot, I've attempted to import the data with the time zone set to both JST and UTC, but the result was the same: "The imported event has a conversion_date_time that precedes the click."

@hayato

For us to have full context, we would need to see screenshots with how Zap steps are configured in the “Configure” tab section so we can see the field mappings.

I apologize for the inconvenience. Please find the attached screenshot.

@hayato

What about how your Formatter Zap step is configured?

I've configured the settings as follows

@hayato

Make sure to remove the Extra Fields.

The Input timestamp value is different from the selected From Format.

Missing the T between DD and HH.

That may cause the Formatter step to not handle the data as expected.

Hey @hayato 👋

Just came across this and wanted to check how you’re getting on - did removing the extra fields and updating the From Format in the Formatter action as Troy suggested help to get things working again?

If so we’d love to get it marked as the best answer to make it easier for others in the Community to find. And if not and you’re still stuck, we’re happy to help further - just let us know!
