I’ve created a workflow as follows:

  1. Form submitted which asks for 3 x document uploads
  2. Forms details save as a doc to Google drive
  3. Workflow finds that file in Google drive and then saves a copy of it to a new Sharepoint folder
  4. It then saves the 3 x uploaded documents to the same folder.

The 2 issues are:

  1. That the original file saved in Google drive, gets saved to Sharepoint in an unreadable file format
  2. That the uploaded files get saved as txt files with the name of the JPG image as the content of the file, instead of the JPG’s being saved

Hi @Harris2025

Help link about using files in Zaps: https://help.zapier.com/hc/en-us/articles/8496288813453-Send-files-in-Zaps

From your screenshot, it looks like you might be using the File name rather than the file url or the file object.

Thanks, I’ve managed to fix most of the files now.

The only one that remains an issue is the 1st point:

  1. That the original file saved in Google drive, gets saved to Sharepoint in an unreadable file format.

It’s creating the file name correctly but then it’s saving as a Macdoc file. I’ve seen it work correctly once so I know it’s possible and I know it must be something to do with the file format, but I just can’t work it out.

Hi there @Harris2025,

Before we dive deeper, could you please send a screenshot of the CONFIGURE section of the Microsoft Sharepoint step that uses the Google Drive file data? This will help me take a closer look at the issue.

Please don't include personal information in the screenshot, or be sure blur out any personal information.

Thanks!

Hi Ken,

Yes it’s here:

It creates the file in Sharepoint named correctly, just not as a docx.

I don’t know if it’s one of the lower steps that’s the issue though, the ticked steps work, it’s step 6 trying to grab the document from Google drive that is not. I’ve also checked by downloading the google doc and it is a Docx file.

Hi @Harris2025,

Thanks for the additional information and screenshots!

It looks like the Microsoft SharePoint app in Step 6 is using an outdated version, which may be contributing to the issue. Could you please try updating it to the latest version?

You can follow the steps outlined here to update apps in your Zaps: https://help.zapier.com/hc/en-us/articles/18755649454989-Update-to-the-latest-app-version-in-Zaps

Kindly give it a try and let me know how it goes? I'll keep an eye out for your response!

Hi,

Thanks for the replies.

Turned out to be even more basic than that, I hadn’t typed at the end of my file name format .docx

Once I did that, it works perfectly.

Thanks again

That’s awesome @Harris2025! Glad to hear that the issue is now resolved!
