I have created a Zap that triggers when a google form is created and then creates a lead in Rex CRM. This part is all working perfectly but then I am wanting it to tag the contact record that it just created in the previous step. I have tried doing a delay and then tagging the record but I’m not sure how to reflect that the contact ID is a dynamic field.

Hi @hancruz

For us to have more context, post these screenshots:

  • how your Zap steps are outlined
  • how your Zap steps are configured in EDIT mode with the field mappings visible

Thanks for the speedy response. Please see attached screenshots

@hancruz

You should not need the Delay step.

Your “Add Tag” step appears to be configured correctly.

Something to check is the field labels tooltips ( i ) that may have more info.

Try turning the Zap ON and testing live.

Then check your Zap Runs history details to see the DATA IN/OUT for each step to help you trace the data flow and troubleshoot: https://zapier.com/app/history/

If you still have issues, then post screenshots of any errors.

Thanks, I have followed these steps but having the same issue. See screenshot

@hancruz

Check the RUN DETAILS tab to see the DATA IN/OUT for the Zap steps to help you trace the data flow.

POST screenshots showing the DATA OUT from the other Rex Zap steps.

Here is a screenshot of data out the step prior that creates the lead in Rex, I want the tag to be on this record in the CRM

@hancruz

Ok, so the Zap step 3 Create Lead only returns the Result ID for live Zap Runs.

That explains why the Add Tag step does not work.

So try adding this Zap step to find the Contact ID: Search for Full Contact

Thank you but I don’t think I have set it up correctly.

@hancruz

Try this…
Remove Zap step 4.
The move Zap step 2 after “Create Lead”.

Getting an error when adding the tag

@hancruz

In Zap step 4, you need to make sure to map the Contact ID from Zap step 3.

How is Zap step 4 configured now in the CONFIGURE tab? (screenshots)

Thank you, that is working perfectly now :)

That’s great news, @hancruz! 🎉🎉🎉 I’m so pleased Troy was able to help you get this sorted. Nice work, @Troy Tessalone! 🙌

Seems like you’re all set for now but feel free to reach back out if you need help with anything else.

In the meantime, happy Zapping! 😁⚡
