I’m using RenderForm → List Templates in a Sub Zap and get the error

This Sub-Zap by Zapier step hit an error

Did you fork or replay this step? We expected callbackUrl to be stored!

Here is my setup

Any ideas why?

Hi @TheChad

Help links for using Sub-Zaps: https://zapier.com/apps/sub-zap-by-zapier/integrations#help

That error means your “Return from a Sub-Zap” step is trying to send data back to a parent Zap that no longer has an active “callback” link to receive it.

In plain English:

  • When you trigger a Sub-Zap, Zapier gives it a callback URL—basically a one-time link for sending the response back.

  • If you replay, test, or fork the Sub-Zap separately (instead of running it from the parent Zap), Zapier doesn’t generate that callback link.

  • So when the Sub-Zap hits the “Return from a Sub-Zap” step, it’s like, “I don’t know where to send this response.”

Fix:
Run the Sub-Zap only from its parent Zap (not by itself or via test replay).
If you need to test the Sub-Zap independently, remove or skip the “Return from a Sub-Zap” step during testing.
