Problems with Google Sheets and Live Zaps

Use Case: Onboarding Process.
ZAP Trigger Event: New or Updated Spreadsheet Row.
Pretty straight forward; send email when column indicates “yes” (as in step/phase completed).  GREAT! Love it.

What Not To Do:  Do not change spreadsheet. Do not rename or change spreadsheets/columns… unless you intend to re-establish triggers in ZAP and have time to test.

What I Want To Do:  Hide rows since we have hundreds of people onboarding. I read in the community that I could allow team to hide rows BUT this action sent out a lot of completed column emails….  generating a lot of call/email/text inquiries to me. Argh.

Question: Should I let team members hide spreadsheet rows or not? (am afraid to unhide this spreadsheet because I do not know if it will kick off another round of emails). I thought that row IDs were critical, especially the last row; hiding rows should NOT change row IDs, right? What am I missing. Thanks.

Hi @Sande

Consider using Airtable instead of GSheets.

Airtable has Views, which are segments of data. (sort, filter, group, show/hide fields, reorder columns)

Create a View with your desired filter criteria to hide records/rows.
