Problem passing Stripe subscription value into EmailOctopus custom field

Hello - I have a zap that sends new subscribers in Stripe into my email client, EmailOctopus. The zap successfully sends the name & email values into EmailOctopus however the Subscription value doesn’t come through. In the screenshot below, Subscription field is a custom field in EmailOctopus (text) and is mapped to the Stripe Subscriptions Plan Nickname (value monthly_lite in the preview). However in the Subscription value is blank in EmailOctopus and I can’t figure out how to fix this.

I have spoken to EmailOctopus support and they confirm everything looks OK from their side - wondering if the community has any experience with this? Thank you!

Hi @Two4One

For your Zap Runs, check the history details to see the DATA IN/OUT to help you trace the data flow and troubleshoot: https://zapier.com/app/history/

Thanks Troy - the status is Success however that fields_Subscription value doesn’t make it through to Octopus unfortunately.

@Two4One

Check the DATA OUT from Zap Step 1 in the Zap Runs history to see if the mapped variable had a value.

If it did not, then that would explain why.

You’re right - its not there, so when I try to edit that step in the zap, I can see the value under plan/nickname however how do I go about editing this step to capture that? So confused

@Two4One

It could be that the Stripe Customer who triggered the Zap Run does not have a Subscription plan.

You can add a Filter as Zap step 2 if needed: https://zapier.com/apps/filter/help

If you only want Customers who have a Subscription, then try using this Zap trigger: Stripe - New Subscription

Ah OK that’s it - New Subscription sorted it, thank you!
