Problem filtering by stripe product id

Hello community,

I am trying to filter a stripe payment by product ID - while also pulling customer details (name, phone, email custom fields, etc).

Here’s the issue:

When the trigger is ‘new payment’, the product ID successfully filters through when testing - however when running a real zap, it unexpectedly gets filtered out (see two photos below). Having the trigger as ‘new payment’ allows me to pull customer details, though, which is what I need as well.

I’ve contacted zapier support, and their solution was to change the trigger to ‘checkout session complete’, and adding a ‘find customer’ step. This solved the payment ID filtering issue, but I was unable to proceed with finding any customer details (no email or customer stripe ID data pulled from the trigger)

Is anyone else running into this, and if so, how did you resolve it?

Thank you!

Hi there @nelly nlea, welcome to the Community! 🎉

I just did some testing in my own Zap and it successfully pulled through a value for the customer ID and email address successfully:

When I selected that field in a Find Customer action it passed the Customer Email value over and was able to find the customer:

Can you try selecting a new test record that contains a value in that Customer Email field?

If it’s not loading any test records with a value then you might need to use a live Zap run for the test record. To do that, turn the Zap on and trigger it by completing a checkout session. After it triggers, view the Zap run that was created and select the Use as a test record option (from the settings icon menu). You can learn more about how to do that here: Use a previous Zap run as a test record

Keep us posted on how that goes!
