I have a zap that monitors a line in Ring Central (RC), if it receives a text to that line, it responds with a canned message, but if it replies to a line that has the same set-up on their end, the autoresponders keep responding to each other in a never ending loop. I need a way to keep this from happening.

Is there a way for me to keep it from sending a message to the same phone number more than once in a 24 hour period?

Thank, Jason

Hi @archerman,

Welcome to the Community.

To prevent infinite loops with autoresponders, set up a Zap that limits messages to the same phone number within 24 hours. Use a Formatter step to extract the phone number, then a Lookup Spreadsheet Row step to check if the number is logged in a spreadsheet of recent messages. Add a Filter step to stop the Zap if the number is found. If not, send the message and log the number with the current timestamp precise entries older than 24 hours using another Zap or method.

Please try it and let us know if you have any issues. We're here to help!

Hi there, @archerman 👋

Just wanted to follow up here to check how you got on with Jammer’s suggestion of adding a filter to the Zap to prevent the Zap loop

Keen to ensure you’re all set so please do let us know if you need any further help at all! 🙂
