i’m trying to get calls and texts (both incoming and outgoing) from openphone into freshsales suite. when i’m testing the zap, i keep getting useless “sample” files from openphone, even though i’ve texted and called my openphone account multiple times. it just can’t seem to pull good test data - which is prohibiting me from actually completing the zap. 

how do i get this to work?

Good question.

Some Zap app triggers only provide representative sample data to use so you can configure the Zaps.

Try configuring the Zap actions, then turned your Zap ON and test.

Check your Zap Runs to see the DATA IN/OUT for each Zap step: https://zapier.com/app/history/


Also note that, while it can make things take more trial and error to figure out, if the app doesn’t provide actual sample data you can still set up the Zap

Unfortunately, the OpenPhone integration does not return the real sample data and only returns the default sample data. I recommend reaching out to our Support Team to create a feature request on your behalf.

The issue isn’t testing, it’s that you can’t set up some Zaps using the Sample Data provided. For example, in OpenPhone you can have multiple recipients, but you can’t design a zap where both or more numbers are taken into account because the sample data doesn’t account for more than 1 number. Not all fields are exposed!! Please fix!

The sample data for TO phone numbers is returned as an array.

Example only has 1 item in an array.

You an use the Looping Zap app to handle iterations for 1+ items.
